Have you considered turning your Vinyl Design sunroom into a gym?
There’s no denying that you love your sunroom and all it has to offer, but you may have been thinking about how convenient it would be to have a home gym. Why not combine the two? This allows you to enjoy your sunroom, along with its natural beauty, and is almost certain to serve as a huge motivator for working out and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
So, how can you turn your Vinyl Design sunroom into a gym? It may be easier than you think. Here’s everything you need to know.
Swap out the flooring.
If you are planning to include cardio equipment or weights in your gym, you’ll want to invest in slip-resistant rubber flooring. Rubber flooring is ideal for reducing noise from your equipment and offers your subfloor the most protection from heavy weights. Available in a variety of styles and colors, rubber flooring is easy to install, making it a DIY option.
Consider your ventilation options.
To help you keep cool during your workout and keep the air circulating, you may want to consider adding a fan that is large enough to adequately cover the square footage. Another option is to open the windows when the temperature is just right outside. This makes ventilation a breeze and ensures you get plenty of fresh air.
Give your sunroom wall a facelift.
Although your gym will feature windows on three sides, you still have one wall to contend with. There are plenty of things you could do here. For example, paint it a bright color that motivates you, cover it in chalkboard paint so you can leave yourself encouraging messages and easily track your progress, or add some cool decorations that also serve as motivation, such as sports jerseys, vinyl wall art or stickers, or stenciled on inspirational sayings. You could easily mix and match all three of these ideas to create an amazing space.
Add some entertainment.
Regardless of how fabulous your gym’s design scheme is, you are certain to get bored quickly without some type of entertainment. You may want to add a TV and sound system that allows you to blast your favorite music, follow along with workout videos, or binge watch a series while you get fit.
Choose the right workout equipment.
The equipment you choose should be based on your workout style. Of course, you’ll also want to make sure that it will fit comfortably in the room. If you are a fan of cardio, consider an elliptical, a treadmill, a rowing machine, a stationary bike, or even a small trampoline. (Keep in mind that anything that needs to be plugged in should be positioned near an electrical outlet.)
If you prefer yoga, include a yoga mat, along with blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, and anything else you feel is essential.
For muscle-building, consider dumbbells, weights, resistance bands, a pull-up bar, a weight bench, shoulder press machine, or punching bag.

Add some storage to your sunroom.
Keep your gorgeous sunroom / home gym organized by investing in shelving racks or units. This makes it easy to store away any equipment, such as resistance bands and jump ropes. This is also the perfect spot for the towels you’ll need to clean up after you’ve broken a sweat.
Now that you know that turning your sunroom into a functional home gym is much easier than you first thought, it’s time to do it. Set aside a weekend to make your transformation and you’ll be on your way to a healthy new lifestyle without ever leaving home.
